Summary
Lt. Evelyn “Echo” Miller is a former special forces sniper turned intelligence analyst. When she comes highly recommended by Laswell, Price doesn’t ask any questions (not openly at least). She’s hesitant to let them in, hesitant to open up, scared to get attached and lose them. But there’s one operator in particular that manages to get under skin in a way she doesn’t expect. Deep craving—heat
Hunger
And I fear the day I may
have no choice but to
let it feed.Gortash stared at the poem, at a complete loss for words. And for emotions. And then, the smug grin tugged at his lips. ... She could claim all she wanted that she was no longer the girl he lay in that graveyard with all those years ago. It was clear that in ways, she indeed was.
Durge could talk all she wanted about being nothing but a scion of Bhaal ... and claim until she ran out of breath that it was all she was, all she would ever be...
Ophelia the poet, the lover of life and nature, and the girl who craved a soft touch was still alive in there. And she wanted him.
Gortash tightened his fist around the parchment, crumpling it as he held it to his chest and stared out the tower window, still grinning.
And he wanted her.
----
The pre-canon backstory of my Durge, Ophelia. For all the devotion she thinks she should have to Bhaal, she is just as equally full of female rage and desire to be free and to love the childhood friend who treated her like a person when no one else did.
