Summary
Jaskier is the fourth son of the minor noble house of Pankratz. He has always wanted to leave Lettenhove to explore, but is limited by the expectations that come with his station. He sets out on a sea voyage to meet his new husband, but before he ever arrives, the vessel is set upon by pirates. Captain Rience has reasons to leave Jaskier as the sole survivor, and none of them are good.
