“You can’t—“ Shane blurted, “you can’t—you’re not supposed to wear a see-through shirt to Wimbledon. There’s a dress code. There are rules. Like, actual rules that actual people follow.”
The man turned, his eyes sweeping over Shane’s face, down his chest, to the hands clutching the gift bag in his lap.
Shane’s skin prickled. God, it was so hot out here.
“Is not see-through.”
Not see-through? Who was this guy kidding, with his barely-there shirt, tight pants, wild curls, and deep voice?
Maybe this guy didn’t own a mirror.
“What do you mean it’s not see-through? It’s obviously transparent. A blind man would notice.”
“Is not transparent. No blind men here to ask.”
Shane’s mouth dropped open. He looked away, squaring his shoulders and sitting up straight. Just his luck to be seated next to a lunatic.

What Shane got instead was a Prince with a pinkie ring, a nipple piercing, and zero respect for the Wimbledon dress code. -

Summary
Detective Athos de la Fere thinks the worst thing he has to deal with is a hangover until his scheming ex-wife shows up at his door looking for police assistance. In five years, it's their first interaction that's not due to her former job working for the best fixer in the country, and definitely the first time she's willingly sought him out. The investigation sounds like his idea of hell, but could it also be an opportunity to finally move on from their painful divorce and all his unresolved guilt and anger? Or could it just destroy them both further?

The first time d'Artagnan met Athos, he pulled a gun on him, and the ensuing fight ended with d'Artagnan pressed up against the wall of the alley, Athos holding d'Artagnan's own gun under his chin. Athos met his furious gaze with the bluest eyes d'Artagnan had ever seen, obviously angry but still in control; they were jammed chest to chest, and d'Artagnan's heart was pounding with adrenaline but Athos wasn't even breathing hard. That's enough, he'd said.
