    Summary

A short (hopefully) and lighthearted story built from my own thoughts and interpretations of Jean and Jeremy’s future.
Told through the eyes of their eldest daughter, Jane, this story follows the quiet, messy, and sometimes tender moments of their everyday lives, far beyond the court and everything they left behind.
From small domestic scenes to the challenges of building a family, Jane observes what it means to grow up in a home shaped by love, trauma, and second chances. Through her perspective, we see not only who Jean and Jeremy have become, but also the kind of parents they are trying to be.
Because sometimes, the hardest part isn’t surviving the past, it’s learning how to live after it.

Sometime later, after he’s gotten his gloves off and has made a home for himself on the bench, the door opens again. Jeremy doesn’t bother looking up. He already knows who it will be.

“What happened,” Jean says, “to killing them with kindness?”

He stops, falters, frowns. “But I hadn’t—I didn’t think you guys were trying yet?”

“We weren’t,” Laila tells him, and glances over at Cat with a twinkle in her eye, “but our cycles synced up, and one thing led to another, and…you guys know how it is.”

She says it with a wink, but Jeremy only feels dread at the comment.

    “What’s wrong?” Jeremy asks.

Jean blinks down at him, startled. It is still so strange, sometimes, how well Jeremy has come to know him. How a single downward curl of a corner of his mouth can draw his boyfriend’s attention, and how much he has come to like it.

“Nothing,” Jean says, because he does not want Jeremy to worry.

And then, because he knows Jeremy will worry anyway, “It is going to rain.”

    Summary

The big guy has his door closed.

It’s on accident, Jabberwocky thinks. It must be. His last family had tossed him out, but this one had brought him home. And the big man did not mean to leave him out here, alone in the dark of the night.

    He just forgot. Is all.

    Probably.

Or, directly after the end of TGR, Jabberwocky starts sleeping in Jean’s room.
