Summary
"Tell me a happy memory."
Occtis smiles. It is not something he does often, Bolaire has noticed. At least, not in a real way; Occtis smiles like Bolaire does.
The little fox—Pincushion—makes a noise, and Occtis absentmindedly runs a hand over its head. "When I was very little," he says, "I used to play with the skeletons in my house."

Summary
"Why is it," there is a resigned sigh from an alcove, "that I'm only ever his child when he wants something from me, wants me to stop doing something, or wants to remind me I'm useless, hey Pin?"
She rounds the corner, a worried frown on her face, only to scowl when she realises who is lying on the windowsill despondently, a letter held loosely in his grip as his arm dangles. He's got his freaky fox on his chest, too.

Summary
"For example, the one place you went that you got probably horrendously in trouble for, frighteningly in trouble, would've been the kitchens deep in the main manor house have a wine cellar and a root cellar."
Thimble was also there for that, incidentally.

Summary
Another gust blew by, whistling in Edwin’s ears through the tiny holes in his knit hat. In the faintest whisper, the wind spoke in a commanding rasp that prickled up Edwin’s spine. “It’s time to give it back.”
Edwin grasped onto the arm of Charles’ coat before he could take another step forward. “Edwin?” Charles said, glancing back.
Against his better judgement, Edwin ignored Charles and took the bait. “Give what back?”
“It was never yours to keep.”
Or, sometimes you escape Hell, inexplicably turn up alive, and make a peaceful life for yourself and your best mate in a little village on the coast of Wales. It's hard to know what's more aggravating for Edwin--that Hell has come knocking again, or that all of a sudden he can't stop his heart from beating out of his chest whenever Charles catches his eye.
