Summary
Vincent is going to be make it. He is sure of it.
Yeah, this is no Harvard Law, or anything that he used to think he could have, but he doesn't want any of that anymore. He knows the past he threw away is nothing compared to making it: the Newport house, the Boston dinners, and the husband that came with it is nothing compared to New York and television. If it takes sleeping to the top, if it takes letting this Alastor guy stay with you, if it takes losing all sense of who he is-- Vincent will still take it. Even if the past comes looking for him, even if he loses everything in the process, even if he doesn't make it.
But he is going to make it. No matter what it does to him.

Summary
Vincent’s hand tightened on his waist, and he shifted Alastor’s weight until the deer was directly in front of him.
Alastor, too startled by his drinking partner’s boldness to react, let himself be moved. Both of Vincent’s hands settled on either side of his waist, and his electronic eyes glinted, then dilated.
Ah, there was the monster, Alastor mused drunkenly. His sweet Vincent, claws out at last, possessed and ruled by his basic wants above all else.
How weak, how revolting.
The radio demon did not dare ponder how his own heat licked at his insides, or how his eyes darkened, his fists white-knuckled and hair standing on end.

Summary
In one glorious half-hour, Alastor has broken or completed three contracts, freed himself from two separate forms of bondage, and enjoyed a rousing jaunt through nearly half the Pentagram. Incidentally, he may also have shattered Vox’s psyche and his heart. But you know what they say about making omelettes; that was a price he was prepared to pay.
He is less prepared to be personally tasked with unscrambling the eggs.

Summary
Vincent’s problem was always the same: he wants.
He wants, he wants, he wants. And no amount of getting or receiving will ever change that fact, will ever close the cavern inside of him that always wants more. Getting is secondary, underwhelming in comparison to the thrill of wanting. Of chasing. When he found something he wanted, he pursued it single-mindedly. He made a plan, he pulled his strings, he put every piece of the puzzle into place. That was when he was on top of the world. Receiving his prize was little more than a participation trophy, and by the time he got it he had usually already found another want. Want, want, want.
Sometimes, at night, he wondered if his luck would run out, and when. What happened when he met someone he couldn’t charm or bully into giving him what he wanted? Who was immune to his silver tongue, his clever quips, his flashy smile or a flirtatious bat of his mismatched eyes? What happened when he took a risk that didn’t pay off?
When Vincent takes a spring break trip to New Orleans to celebrate his upcoming college graduation, he may just find the answer to that question where he least expects it.
And it will alter the course of his life forever.
