Offering to help fix it leads to one thing that leads to another and before he even knows it, the man is offering for him to stay in his garage as compensation. Driver unsuspectingly finds comfort in this man named Lars and his quiet, uneventful way of living. Wondering if he has the chance to build a life just like that for himself in this rural town he's found himself in.

He didn’t just listen to Lars, waiting for him to stop speaking out of politeness, he really seemed to hang onto his every word. He gave him his full attention. Lars wasn’t used to that. It made him feel, for the first time in a long time, that he was taking too much from someone else. Lars was usually always the giver. He liked being the giver; it was comfortable. He felt like less of a bother that way. He didn’t really know how to just…receive."

    Rocky has officially moved into Hail Mary with Grace, but he's still dealing with the aftereffects of living nearly fifty human years by himself. By chance, he finds himself singing with Grace, and it's clear Grace doesn't fully understand what that means for Eridians.

    This story roughly follows the plot of both the book and the film, but Rocky and Grace's personalities are more reminiscent of the book. Furthermore, Rocky's speaking style closely follows the book, although his physical appearance is closer to his depiction in the film.
