“that’s okay,” tsukasa reassures, exchanging his vanilla ice cream for the fish with a deflated, sad-eyed rui. “you can have mine instead.”
rui stares down at the slightly melted chocolate-coated vanilla in his hand, now smiling. “..thank you, tsukasa-kun.”
his soft smile, the tilt of his head — it’s enough to make tsukasa realise he’s sweating. somebody who wasn’t all that much affected by the heat, was now ridiculously giddy, so much so that he could just melt away onto the pavement.

on a hot summer’s day, tsukasa and rui go on an ice cream trip!

That wasn’t Tsukasa’s issue. No, it was rather the boy sitting directly across from him, who bore the same features, but much sharper eyes, piercing his skin with yellow hues that told him to back out of the project then and there.
“Tsukasa Tenma, lead model of the project and representative of Eternals. It’s a pleasure to meet the both of you.”
“Rui Kamishiro, head of the technological advancements department at Kamiros Labs. It’s nice to meet you as well, Tenma-san.”
Tsukasa gulped, shifting his gaze away. But no matter how hard he looked away, he knew he couldn’t run any longer. This was no longer a cruel trick played on him by the Sekai. This was the real deal, and maybe there were some underlying problems that needed to be handled first.
