    Summary

So, it didn’t start out like this.

Alfred would scoff at the statement, about how Bruce was trying to justify the whole situation to himself. It had started out as a simple design, black everything with black outlines and black hood. It got a little more intense as the world went on, got wind of his ghost on the streets, and became scared of The Bat . So Bruce got a little more creative with it, Alfred and him had a good laugh over the name, the scare, and Alfred had a vicious streak of humor that he had passed onto his ward-

So now the suit had a visible bat-theme, an insignia to drape in the shadows and to paint across the streets of Gotham.

It only took a year into the whole charade of heroism for Bruce to overhear a conversation between some goons- some low level thug hired by the Riddler this week- about nothing at all pertaining to what the hell the Riddler was doing in the sewers but instead:

“ The Batman can fly, you know, I’ve seen his wings.”

    --

A world where nobody has wings, but people think they do, and that changes everything.

Simon focused on the view. So many stars. They were beautiful, and he was happy they'd be the last thing he'd see.
"I'm ready." Simon whispered into the still air. The combing stopped, and Simon mourned the loss immediately.
    "You can kill me now."
AKA: What if Simon misinterpreted why Grace was showing him the Greenhouse? Our bodies become the soil, after all.

    Summary

“Yes, where is Robin?” Alison asked. “He’s not really been around much the past few days has he?”

Mary smiled, in that fond way she did whenever she thought of Robin being Robin. “'S cause he's gone to see his little friend.”

Julian scoffed. “Squirrels and pigeons don't count as friends, Mary.”

“No, nots the squirrels and birds,” Mary scowled, standing to put her hands on her hips. “Is the man in the shed, that friend.”

    The ghosts exchanged glances.

“...Surely not,” Thomas said, but he sounded unsure, looking to the others for guidance. “Surely there couldn't have been another ghost among us that we have simply not noticed.”

Mary drops a bombshell onto a casual conversation at Button House, leaving the ghosts scrambling. Still, the addition of one more ghost shouldn’t change too much… should it?

    Summary

"[The Captain] fiddled with his tie as he walked down the corridor, but was stopped in his tracks by a sudden wailing cry. He smirked briefly, unable to suppress his amusement at the thought of Julian and his houseguests, before carrying on down the main staircase, and out into the gardens.

He’d made the right decision in switching rooms last night, clearly. He had no doubt that Michael’s parents would have provided enough of a disturbance to have made sleep a moot point. And, if nothing else, at least he didn’t have to worry about Thomas phasing through him in the middle of the night.

At that thought, the Captain abruptly came to a halt. He placed his swagger-stick under his arm and drew in a tremulous breath.

Nothing about Thomas had been incorporeal last night. Nothing whatsoever. The memory of his solidity, of the weight of his body, of the sheer warmth of that contact—".

Displaced from his bedroom over the Christmas period, the Captain is forced to make new sleeping arrangements.
