Set in the future where Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer now rule Equestria in place of Celestia and Luna. A new form of magic now brings with it a new generation of magically-born offsprings, including Sunset and Twilight's own alicorn daughter Nova. Now, along with their adopted unicorn son, Dusk Eclipse the new royal family is living happily in Canterlot along with all their friends.
Meanwhile in the Crystal Empire, the estranged child of Queen Chrysalis is living tentatively alongside Flurry Heart and her overprotective personal guard Solar Flare and Solar's deadpan little sister Starry Knight, children of Captain Flash Sentry and Royal Crystaller Sunburst.
