Summary
Living in a world where curses — and blessings — can be thrown onto a person so easily is not Charles' favourite thing. It's inconvenient, though he stopped caring about the magic running through the air as soon as he realized that there are ways he can protect himself from it. Thin strings of red tied around his wrist, incense stashed in his carry-on, soulmates. The last solution is useless, given that he'd need to have his soulmate for that, but it is one nonetheless.
(or, five times Charles gets cursed and Max heals him, and one time the roles are reversed.)

“See, baby,” Max sighs, coming over to press a slightly exasperated kiss to Charles’ hair for the hundredth time in the last half a year. Like a cat, Charles stretches up into the affection. “Come try a new thing with me. Maybe you’ll have fun.”
“I know I won’t,” Charles hums back. “I’ll try new things with you eventually, you know I will. I tried surfing with you. And Ethiopian food. And I suggested vibrators, remember all that?”
new relationships and life are hard work sometimes. charles just wishes that people would take no for an answer when he's trying to make his existence easier.
