“Call me?”, he repeated to himself. “What does that..”, he mumbled before cutting himself off. He’d properly opened the sticky note to see what it said, that which ended up being Ryder’s phone number accompanied by some silly doodles of hearts and something that seemed pretty hastily written. ‘It waz nice talkin to u pretty boy, call me!’
What.
When had Ryder even made this?! Surely this must truly be a fever dream because there is no way that Tom Ryder just gave him his number. Why would he do that?! He doubted the guy was in need of friends… Ryland stared at the sticky note again, reading it a few more times before he brought his hand up and gave himself a slight slap on his cheek.
Nope, not a dream.

Summary
Ryland Grace, savior of humanity, is invited to a gala celebrating the 5th anniversary of solving the Astrophage Crisis. It is a mandatory scent-neutral event requiring everyone to wear heavy-duty blockers. Which is why when he is approached by Tom Ryder stinking the room with his alpha scent, he considers two explanations.
One: Tom Ryder is an entitled jerk who thinks he is above even the mandated policies of the Petrova Foundation.
Two: Since no one else seems to be reacting to Ryder, this means that only Ryland can smell him. Which means their compatibility is so high that it bypassed industrial-grade blockers.
Or in more romantic terms, they are soulmates.
But if that's the case, why does Ryder smell so repulsive to him? Answer: Definitely Option One. Right?
OR:
Scenting is usually taken as an afterthought in Omegaverse. This is an attempt to explore the biological, cultural, and sociopolitical implications of such an ability if taken seriously in our world-building.
An exercise in speculative biology, delivered through the medium of Starstruck (Ryder/Grace).

Summary
Tom Ryder is many incredible things. He's a movie star, a multi-millionaire, he's swimming in drugs and booze, and all the love he could ever want. Or at least, that's what he thinks, until Colt brings his nerdy twin brother around.
Tom Ryder doesn't do feelings. He doesn't do long-term. He doesn't care for romance.
Why doesn't he believe that anymore?
(OR: The long-term journey of self-improvement is hard, miserable, and draining, but it's a journey Tom is willing to take for love. He knows that's sappy. Somewhere in between home-brewed iced coffee and accidental overdoses, he stopped minding being a sap.)

Grace is devastated, This revelation causes Grace to be stressed out and overshare some details of his life. As they talk, Stratt pieces together that Grace was once secretly married to famous actor Tom Ryder - the man Grace suspects was actually responsible for Henry's death, and Colt's accidents.

”This… ‘thing’ is so important you’re fine working with this guy for the rest of your career?” Gail sputtered, disappointed by her wasted effort, no mind to it being for misconduct. “We can’t postpone it. It’s now or never babe.” She put her free hand on her hip to propose the ultimatum.
”What? Just save it for my next movie. Give me time to refine my romancing skills, boom we immediately fall in love, and Colt will be licking his wounds by next summer.” How embarrassing is it to admit out loud that The Tom Ryder needs time to romance someone. Usually his presence alone has people begging for his attention. In his defense, how could’ve he known that grace incarnate would visit set on a random Friday? Soulmates need more than three days to cultivate, Ryland has patience. He’s a great listener, not to mention that he lived with Colt. Yeah. Whoosh. A person like Ryland has high standards, and Tom obviously meets them of course, he just needs to showcase his abilities.
