“I told you. Hollander and I, we are in love. He is my hockey player.” Ilya wiggled his eyebrows at the joke, but couldn’t keep himself from watching Scott Hunter.
“Sure, Roz. You and Hollander are in love, want to get married, spend the rest of your lives playing hockey together.” When Ilya didn’t immediately reply to that very accurate statement, Hunter continued: “If you two are in love, I’m straight. That’s how likely that is.” He had laughed and skated away, though Ilya really hadn’t understood what was supposed to be funny about that.
Standing alone on the ice, the crowd slowly filing out of the rink, Ilya was faced with a startling realization: telling people may be harder than he thought.

“What’s ‘Hollanov’?” Dykstra asked, and Luca felt his heart drop immediately but still didn’t look up, now out of an attempt at self-preservation.
“It’s what people call Roz and Hollzy in a relationship, apparently.”
This felt like the start to one of his stress-induced nightmares.
“Oh yes. I know this. They tweet this all of the time,” Ilya cheerfully said. “They say very creative things, sometimes.”

Summary
The Swiss National League doesn’t care about the legendary Hollander-Rozanov rivalry. When the MLH can’t negotiate with the Hockey Players’ Union in time to prevent a hockey lockout at the start of the 2015 season, the Zürich Lions jump at the chance to sign both Shane and Ilya to short-term contracts. For four months in Switzerland, they share a team, a line, a house, and a bed.
Then the lockout ends in January, and it’s time to go back. Back to different countries, cities, lives. Beds.
Reentry is harder than expected.
