    Summary

    After seeing the situation at hand with Rhaenyra and Daemon's marriage, Corlys decides to put his ambitions aside for his blood to sit on the Iron Throne. He instead works to be a good grandpa and to give his grandsons a fighting chance outside the game of thrones between the Greens and Blacks, for it's not worth the lives of his grandsons. But even without the Iron Throne as the goal, Corlys is still Corlys. And that means he won't settle for anything, and he will sure as hell not have the new paths his grandsons take be anything but beneath them either. They will not be kings, but their legacies will be great and powerful and without any impact by their mother and Targaryen kin.

    Following Rhaenyra and Daemon’s elopement, Corlys is aware of the threat posed to his grandson’s inheritance-and to their very lives. Knowing that Rhaenyra was too blinded by love to see the threat she was putting her eldest sons in, Corlys decides to act before bloodshed and war takes what is left of son. The Seasnake was never one to back down from what he believed was his family's, but in the game of thrones winning sometimes meant forging new paths and futures. Understanding the implications of his grandson’s new half-brothers, Corlys pivots his ambitions into securing his grandson’s future across the Seven Kingdoms and cementing their names in history across Westeros. The three Velaryon princes will never sit on the Iron Throne, but their lives will surpass that legacy. They may not be truly born of salt and sea but they are Velaryons. Laenor’s greatest achievements. Not Rhaenyra’s. What could be called a Dance still happened, but the three eldest sons of Rhaneyra are neither Black nor Green, and the cost as such affects both sides. And all of Westeros will mourn what could have been.
    Where Corlys' ambitions cost him his children, and he decides to be a good grandpa.
