Summary
Fives watched as the scaly gray blur of the city grew closer and more distinct through the airplane window; blurry swamps of cement and black asphalt sprouted trees and lampposts, bodies of cars slid and moved over and past each other. It was afternoon in Ord Mantell, bright and golden, and after seven years of active duty service, Fives was almost home.
Fives finally returns home, but finds himself struggling to reintegrate with family he hasn't seen in years, who have already had time to adjust to life after the military. Feeling left behind, he fights to find a place for himself, and heals long-open wounds along the way.

He turned off the engine, watching the house as the front door pulled open. A woman with tousled hair and her shoes in hand emerged, kissing Hunter goodbye. Crosshair not-so-silently groaned, rolling his eyes. The woman staggered around their front lawn on tiptoes, readjusting her dress as she went off to the other side, not taking notice of Crosshair’s car whatsoever.
