Summary
Shane impulsively makes a bet with Rose: if he can date a guy for a month longer than his customary one date followed by ghosting them forever, he gets $200; if he can’t, he agrees to let her set him up until he finally finds love. But he has no intention of playing it straight, so the plan—as he conspiratorially tells his best friend Ilya—is to fake date someone and split the money.
Ilya thinks this is a terrific idea and fully expects Shane to ask him to be his fake boyfriend… except he doesn’t. And Ilya can’t figure out why. Why didn’t Shane choose him, when they both know how effortless it would be to pretend with how close they already are, not to mention how all their friends would instantly believe it? And why does witnessing Shane even just pretend to date someone else feel like actual torture?

Summary
"I have a proposition for you. I can give you exactly what you are looking for: an exit without pain, without fear, and with dignity, and you would give me something in return."
This is the offer Shane, a vampire unable to hunt due to psychological trauma, makes to Ilya, a young who attends a suicide support group and feels he has already lost everything in life.
To Shane, Ilya is the only chance to avoid starving to death without having to become a monster. To Ilya, Shane is the perfect angel, possessing a kindness he never found in the world of the living.
But before the end, Ilya has a bucket list to fulfill, and Shane has promised to help him. The only problem with this perfect plan? The more they get to know each other, the harder it becomes to say goodbye.
(Loosely based on the 2023 canadian film "Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person" directed by Ariane Louis-Seize)
