The water lapped around them, thick with bubbles that smelled faintly of citrus and Nobara’s body wash—the one he’d dumped in just for fun. Nobara was kneeling behind Megumi, fingers buried in his hair, pressing in lazy kisses between rinses. Yuuji should probably remind her it was his turn soon. But he was already so warm.

Both grown men, half-embracing each other and definitely standing far too close, turned their attention toward none other than Shoko, staring at them with a cigarette dangling from her lips.
Her expression didn’t change even slightly. Well, aside from the fact that the cigarette nearly slipped from her mouth.
“And here I thought Lady Kamo-Zenin was going to be the surprise of the week,” Shoko said flatly before stepping aside to let the other two inside.
“Who?” Gojo asked, raising an eyebrow, though he still allowed himself to be dragged inside by the other two.

There's something about this girl, like looking in a funhouse mirror a third of his size. “Oi, kid,” Toji says. “It’s you, isn’t it?”
The girl glares daggers at him from behind a pair of red-rimmed glasses too big for her tiny face. She’s looking at him like he’s totally crazy, which isn’t entirely untrue. “Huh? Who the heck are you?”
In lieu of answering, he asks, “What’s your name?”
The girl scowls. “Maki.”
“Maki,” he repeats, and it’s like a missing piece of his soul falls back into place. The record of his life before he fought the Six-Eyes brat is a long, impossibly white scroll of nothing -- but written on it in faint letters is the name of a child, a child with a delicate name that brushed the heavens, spun a prayer into letters; a name that began with an M, and it ended in i, too.
“Maki,” he says again. “I think you’re my daughter.”
