Watching Alex now, the way he stares off into space with vacant eyes while his hands twist his drumsticks over and over, Reggie knows for sure it’s one of those days. He glances over at Luke and Julie, who are hunched over Luke’s songbook at the piano, and goes to kneel in front of Alex’s stool. The drummer doesn’t even acknowledge his approach.
“Hey, Lexi,” Reggie says softly, and Alex startles a bit. He looks at Reggie, finally, but his eyes are still empty, almost like he doesn’t recognize him.
“Hard Day?”
Or, Alex is having one of those days where even the smallest tasks seem impossible. There's no one better to help than Reggie.
