Summary
Byleth never wanted a banner. Mercenaries fight for coin, not causes, and he has buried enough men to know a simpler truth than any sermon: there is no such thing as a happy ending. He has no heartbeat. He has a Crest no scholar can name, an annoying girl’s voice where his thoughts ought to be private, and a habit of reading people instead of turning away.
He has no business in Garreg Mach, meddling between saints and nobles. But destiny has other plans.

He should have known better than to follow the kids into the mess. But somehow, that’s exactly where he ended up.
Four roads lead out of Garreg Mach, and the singers know every one. The eagle’s road runs red. The lion’s road runs cold. The deer’s is paved with lies, and the church’s is silver, silent, and long. Choose a banner, and the ending is already written: children in crowns, kingdoms in ashes, crows grown fat on both.
But what if there is a fifth road?

Summary
Tenn is weak. He’s weak. He’s always, always left powerless against this person, this person who won’t leave him alone, who chases after him, who longs to be like him. Tenn runs from him, and is always a step too slow. It’s not just Gaku, or Ryuu, or IDOLiSH7 he has to fight against. It’s not just Riku. It’s himself, and his traitorous heart, and the way his whole body pines and aches and burns to be near this person. He is running from a destiny he can’t escape.
