It started as a joke—just a casual “thank you, dear” tossed Spock’s way during a routine shift. A quirk of speech, a slip of the tongue. James T. Kirk didn’t mean anything by it. Really.
But then it happened again. And again. Until half the crew had a spreadsheet, the other half had a betting pool, and Spock had a problem no amount of Vulcan composure could entirely suppress.
Now Kirk has to face the consequences of his unconscious affection. Spock, as always, would simply like some clarity. Possibly dinner.
