So, he does what any immortal Dark Lord would do. He invents a time-travel ritual and goes back to the 1980s to conquer it all again, to make his empire stronger and flawless.
Falling in love was not part of the plan.

Harry swallowed, his throat dry. The thought of the piece of the Dark Lord’s soul that was completely fused with his own always left him feeling a little dizzy; he would never refer to being a Horcrux as a mistake. Especially when it was that ‘wrong’ soul that kept Voldemort alive. “Only that I succeeded, my Lord.”
