Summary
He had worked as a scribe and record keeper at various European courts throughout the roughly four hundred years following his father's death. It had been a way to distract himself. A way to keep himself fed and a roof over his head. But it brought him into contact with way too many people, with politics and court intrigue. All of which he found so very tiresome.
These days, a writer could hole himself up somewhere, dedicate his whole being to his craft and only interact with people outside his small household occasionally to take his manuscripts to the printer and negotiate terms. It was a lifestyle that suited Miles' needs perfectly.
