Summary
So close to Shanks, Mihawk can feel it all; the weave of desire and anger, grief and want. Other emotions more precarious, voracious, things he doesn't have a word for. Those unnamed feelings are at least in part why Mihawk still doesn't know what he's doing here. He doesn’t like uncertainty inside himself. The world can do what it wants, but he was supposed to have found a way to silence all the tumult in his chest years ago. A sword to slice and a sword to silence, paralleling each other.

Of course, Mihawk is rarely—if ever—wrong, and Shanks proves to be exactly what Mihawk expects: trouble.
Irresistible, cocky, and good-looking trouble.
Yet, to Mihawk’s credit, he’s never shied away from a challenge, and he certainly won’t cower in the face of a man who smiles brighter than the sun and acts as if he’s god’s gift to man. If anything, Mihawk has something to prove, and it’s that he will not be just another among many who fall for Akagami’s charms. It doesn’t matter how hot Shanks is, or how intently he stares, or how infuriatingly easy it is for Shanks to dig under Mihawk’s skin—Mihawk will not be swayed.
Except, being swayed is the least of Mihawk’s concerns, especially when Shanks decides to rock his entire world instead.

Though, it seems some readers have requested a sequel.

The frames on the screen loop, black and white and black and white once more, reflecting off Red’s cheeks, darkening his eyes and lips, bathing them in pale gloom. The lights turn on and there he is, still strong with hope.
“Perhaps,” Mihawk replies.

Summary
The Strawhats were a legend: progressive pirates in a regressive world, executed not at sea, but on the gallows and the pyre of Salem. Their story was supposed to end in 1634. Centuries later, 17 year old Perona moves into her stepdad’s house, in which he’d always joked was “haunted”. However, Shanks, her stepfather, has been hiding a major part of this ‘joke’, hiding a secret connection to ghosts his whole life. Her father, Mihawk, believes in facts, not phantoms.
When tragedy strikes, Perona vows to right the history wronged. But as she digs up the past (and graves), she uncovers a web of love, loss, and betrayal that flooded from the Puritan days, all the way to her front door today, forcing her to challenge what it means to truly be a family.

Shanks whirled so fast he nearly lost his footing. There was a stranger watching him, hip leaned against the trunk of one of the trees shading his resting spot. He looked roughly Shanks’ height, the hilt of a large blade poking out from behind his back, his long coat—a textured black that transitioned at the lining and sleeves to an eye-twisting pattern of vines and leaves in the muddy palette of sunset—out of place in the oppressive heat.
"I have?" Shanks said warily, wondering how long he’d been there.
When Shanks learns the location of the legendary fae sword Gryphon, deep within the wilds of the fae realm, he's determined to be the first mortal in centuries to claim it. Then he meets Mihawk, and he's not sure what he wants anymore.
(One Piece universe, but fae exist. Set roughly 5 years after Roger's execution.)

Not willing to give up his passion, he breaks into a dojo to train in secret. When the owner, Dracula Mihawk, discovers the talented boy, he decides to train him. When he learns the details of Zoro’s situation, he even decides to take the teen in.
Mihawk has made a terrible mistake. He had thought offering Roronoa a better option than a group home would be enough, but he quickly realizes the boy needs more help than the sword-master can offer. There is one person he could ask for help. Someone he hadn’t spoken to in a long time… But surely Shanks would be willing to help him, right?

Mihawk meets the red-haired boy in his dreams when he is fifteen. The edges of the hallway they meet in are wispy, but the boy appears clear, his hair almost too vivid in contrast. Then again, this is a dream.
“Hawkeyes Mihawk!” the boy exclaims, a little too loudly. Then he smacks his face with both his hands. “Oh my god, I am so lame,” he mutters. “It won’t go like this in person. I’ll be cool. This can be practice.”
Mihawk wakes up before he can find out what the boy means, but doesn’t think anything of it as he gets out of bed to make himself breakfast—weird dreams happen all the time for no reason, after all.
It’s only when he sees the same exact boy again a week later that Mihawk begins to take note.
