When Darklaw brushes her hair aside and peels her bandage away from her neck, Jean barely stifles her gasp.
The wound isn't… unhealable. But it’s certainly worse than she had been expecting, because she’d read over that wretched court transcript near a thousand times: during their scuffle, Kira had admitted to scratching her attacker’s neck before she pulled off the pendant, snapping the rope - but there’s no way such a feeble retaliation could have caused this wound, she's sure!
“I- I thought it was said that Kira only scratched you,” Jean whispers, in fear that if she talks any louder her voice will give away the severity of the injury.
“That much is true. But Ms Kira was a Shade,” Darklaw sighs, her eyes slipping shut for a short moment. “Her nails would have been uncut, and most likely dirty from completing her tasks. That, along with my pendant being tugged over the wound and the time I went without tending to it… well. I suppose I thought it would handle itself."
