Summary
"We were so worried, we heard you—" Ragatha starts, and then looks up. She meets Jax's gaze dead-on, and goes silent. Tears brim in the corner of her eye. Her hand flies up to cover her mouth. He can't tell if the look on her face is relief or fear.
Gangle's staring at him like she's seen a ghost. Pomni slowly raises to her feet, brows furrowed. She winces as every movement jars her wavering form.
Cowered on the floor, panting, confused and disoriented, with everyone standing above him, taller than him… it reminds Jax of something deeply unpleasant. They're all staring at him. They're all seeing him.
Jax knows they're not going to like what they see.
His breath quickens until his head is spinning, and he feels like he's going to vomit. He forces himself upwards with a frustrated cry, swaying in place, and then turns and bolts towards his room as fast as he can.
"NO!" Pomni screams.
(or: pomni pulls jax back from the brink.)

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 9!!
' She can’t help her mind wandering though, back to a topic that’s been a frequent visitor in her mind for weeks now, relentlessly pounding against her skull.
Caine had come up to them two months prior, practically glitching with excitement, sharing that they may be able to potentially heal abstraction. He wasn’t positive, but he’d been working closely in the digital files of the Circus lately, giving himself something to do in between their regular activities. He found that the files of their lost friends still existed, but were corrupted, damaged, though fixable, if he was looking at it correctly at least. He couldn’t promise anything, but he had hope that they could actually do something.
This had caused excitement to rise within the group, eyes sparkling and discussion rampant. Voices had overlapped each other, and Pomni couldn’t help the heaviness on her chest of their most recent cast member lost lightening a bit at the positivity of the group, eyes drifting to the large circus tent he resided in most days, when he wasn’t in the aquarium with the others. '

“You’re not supposed to love me.”
He is bleeding as he sobs, his words encompassing his body like a balm when they are not caught like burrs in the empty spaces of his mouth, but it somehow singes his skin anyway. It is released into the wild from the bilges of his core - there is a love that exists for him that he does not deserve. There is a love that abets his sins and is the contrast to his sickly convention. There is a love that is just out of reach, still intangible and it always will be.
Jax cannot take it anymore. His fists curl in front of him. His left one numbs like a cavity.
