Summary
The ADA has once again been hired to breach the formidable security of the information broker Takechi, this time to identify a corporate mole selling company secrets. Unfortunately, their job is even more difficult this time, as Soukoku is hired by Takechi to enhance security for the meeting. Who will win?
Excerpt:
“I see,” said Kunikida, scribbling away. “What about on the other end?” he asked. “Does your mole appear to be leaking to a specific competitor, or does it vary?”
“Ah,” the security chief said, leaning forward intently. “That’s interesting. The information isn’t making it out to every competitor, but it is showing up at multiple firms, and it’s the same ones every time. I’ve been asking around, and what I’ve heard is that these particular firms all have a standing contract with a high-end information broker. So I suspect the mole is talking to the information broker rather than directly to our competitors.”
Kunikida paused in his note-taking. “I see,” he said again, his deep voice grim.

Summary
With their initial wealth, plus all of Ace's assets and the blood money they took from the PM after the assassination attempt on Chuuya, goodness knows Soukoku never have to work another day in their lives. Their new agency, named (of course) Soukoku, takes only the jobs that interest them, and if that's not enough to fill out their day, then good, that's all the more time they can spend with their new fur babies that they adopted in last week's story.
Today is just an average, dilettante day, with an emergency call, and a request from the PM, and a call from the new Special Operations Division liaison, all of which leaves plenty of time for Soukoku to be doting cat dads.
Excerpt:
Chuuya wiggled the mouse to wake his laptop. As he entered his passcode, he looked over at Dazai and asked, “So what do you-” and was interrupted by his phone letting off a special ring, almost an alarm.
He answered the phone as he leaped to his feet. “Nakahara.” He listened for a few seconds, the only sound being the pounding of his feet as he ran for the office door, Dazai close behind him. As he crossed the waiting room he said, “On my way.”

Summary
The new penthouse is finally ready, and Soukoku have a very busy week, moving in, throwing housewarming parties, and finally fulfilling Dazai's birthday promise to Chuuya, going to the shelter to bring home a new furry loved one.
Excerpt:
“Yes, sweetheart, I didn’t forget,” Dazai said patiently as he whisked the wet ingredients. “Everything’s on track, and the moving crew will definitely be fine for Wednesday. And honestly, there’s a good chance that we can get a head start tomorrow.”
“Great,” Chuuya said eagerly, hopping up to sit on the edge of the counter, legs dangling. “So Thursday we can unpack and do grocery shopping, so we can be ready for the Agency party Friday and the Port Mafia one Saturday.”
Dazai looked up from folding the dry ingredients into the batter. In a meaningful voice, he said, “And at some point in there, we have to go fulfill my promise.”

Summary
Dazai has a very sugar-filled birthday, beginning with pastries for breakfast, followed by presents, and then, later in the day, Chuuya holds to the promise he made in Traditionally, The First Anniversary Is Paper and recreates the June photo from the sexy calendar he made Dazai. And he ups the ante, adding in a piping bag of frosting, for Dazai to do with as he will.
Excerpt:
“Happy birthday,” Chuuya said in his best seductive voice.
Dazai raked his eyes over his gorgeous husband as he made his way across the living room with catlike steps. Just as he had been in the June picture, Chuuya was posed on his side on a fainting bench, this one covered with some silky wine-red throw, and he himself wore nothing but a large wine-red bow around his neck and a silk sheet draping himself from the waist down. A birthday cake stood on a small table, but this time the table also held a cake knife, plates and forks, and a bottle of wine and two glasses. And- was that a piping bag full of frosting?
Oh, thought Dazai feverishly. Oh, my.

Summary
When Kunikida and Yosano come over to Soukoku's new offices for a quick tour and then dinner, Yosano and Chuuya decide they should all go to the beach Saturday. Fun is had by all, and Dazai enjoys his first trip to the beach, even if the day ends a little early when a disaster occurs and the foursome saves the day.
And, once they all head home, we finally learn why Kunikida got a new notebook a month or so ago, and what changes he made.
As Chuuya reached for the down button to call the elevator, he thought, Okay, let’s do it. He threw carelessly over his shoulder, “Oh, hey, Yosano and I decided we’re all going to the beach Saturday. You guys both got swim trunks?”
Kunikida said, “That sounds fun,” as Dazai simultaneously said, “Chuuya,” reprovingly.
“No problem, babe, I’ll get you all set up,” Chuuya promised easily.
“Chuuya,” Dazai said considerably more ominously as the elevator doors opened.
“Starting to sound like a broken record, babe,” Chuuya said lightly as he entered the elevator and pushed the button for the ground floor.

Summary
Remodeling the eleventh floor of the office building into their own offices is a much smaller task than remodeling the twelfth floor into living space, and yay! the eleventh floor remodel is complete! Today the furniture for the offices is arriving, and Chuuya and Dazai are there to meet the installers and help get the office ready for business.
Proceedings are efficient for a while, but by the end Chuuya's spending more time trying to wrangle his mischief-loving husband than he's spending unpacking.
(Don't tell Dazai, but Chuuya's not as exasperated about that as he makes out.) ❤️

Summary
In Vulnerable, Soukoku learned Dazai hadn't completely dealt with the near-successful assassination attempt on Chuuya (A Fresh Start), and his overprotectiveness became a liability. Dazai agreed to see a therapist. However, for someone who's led the life Dazai has, being open about his feelings, weaknesses, and crimes goes against every instinct of self-preservation he has.
While they need a professional to provide therapy to address the aftermath of the assassination attempt, Chuuya is more than competent to provide therapy to address the aftermath of - therapy.
Excerpt:
Chuuya kept rubbing Dazai’s back with his left hand. “So,” he said lightly, “what can we do for the rest of the day to help you relax and calm your instincts down? I was thinking massage, then soak, then takeout and something nice to drink. And maybe I could put you to sleep when it gets around bedtime,” he said, waggling his eyebrows.
Dazai’s eyes remained closed, but his lips finally curved up in a smile, and the corners of his eyes crinkled. Chuuya’s heart leapt, encouraged.
“You are too good to me,” Dazai said, and his voice was now husky for a different reason.

Summary
After Chuuya has his first superhero moment as a good guy, he heads back to the ADA with Kunikida and Yosano. While there, Kyouka asks him for a favor: to accompany her when she informs Kouyou that she and Atsushi are now dating. And Chuuya discovers damn, Kyouka's got balls. Great big brass ones.
Humor! Fluff! More humor! More fluff! Zero angst!
In this AU, both Kyouka and Kenji are 2 years older than canon. Atsushi & Kyouka's relationship was platonic (on Atsushi's side, at least) until the story First Kisses, so when he fell in love with her, Kyouka was already eighteen and a half.

Summary
Soukoku are closing on their new office/home when Chuuya gets a text from Mori, who wants to hire the newly-independent Soukoku to investigate disappearances in Port Mafia territory. Upon learning that the bodies turning up have been experimented upon, Dazai worries briefly that Chuuya's past might make it difficult for him to keep his emotions from affecting his work.
It turns out that Chuuya wasn't the one who had difficulty maintaining his detachment.
But it's going to be okay. These two will always be there for one another.
Excerpt:
Mori flipped to the final page again, and then began musing aloud. “Interesting. I believe, considering Chuuya’s background in particular, this might be the perfect opportunity to test out Yokohama’s new independent consultants.”
Elise looked up from her drawing. “You’re going to try to hire them? Can I watch? I want to see what Dazai does to you.”
“Elise!” he pouted. “So cruel!” Good, she hadn’t noticed a thing.

Summary
In which we catch up with Atsushi and Akutagawa to find out what's been going on in their lives. This story spans the month between A Fresh Start (#89 in this series, in which Chuuya left the PM and Dazai left the ADA) through today, the Friday after Higuchi's and Atsushi's birthdays (and cures Atsushi's case of Idiot Teenage Movie Trope Syndrome).
This story is NOT Dazai/Chuuya-centric. They only appear long enough to take Atsushi out drinking on his birthday as previously scheduled.
Excerpt:
It had been nearly three days since Chuuya’s departure from the Port Mafia, and Akutagawa had only slept for about six hours during that time. He had been run ragged, attempting to save as many Port Mafia assets - whether materials, personnel, or infrastructure - as possible from Dazai and Chuuya’s retribution. The Black Lizard had been likewise occupied. Their mutual successes had been regrettably few; Dazai was far too brilliant to leave any thread they could tug to unravel his plans.
But for now, Akutagawa was seated at his desk, to which he had been summarily recalled by Mori, and was attempting to keep himself awake as he awaited his turn for interrogation.

Summary
Ango didn't need to hire Soukoku for this job, and he certainly didn't have to be his usual asshole government self about it. He's lucky they didn't pile on the surcharges for being a dick about it. And on top of it, the job is boring, and Chuuya's really getting tired of not getting to do any fun jobs.
Cue Dazai and malicious compliance, leading to a simple breaking & entering raid turning into a full-on undercover mission in an extremely exclusive nightclub. Which necessitates hot outfits, admission and drinks and private room expenses, travel, etc. - and a correspondingly high expense report for Ango to deal with.
Excerpt:
Dazai looked at the pout on Chuuya’s face, not just due to the frustration of working for Ango and the government, but also due to the boring nature of the job.
He looked at the plans again, and then minimized them and clicked over to the Pulse website. He scanned the pictures and blurb, and an evil smile crept onto his face. He returned to the architectural plans, paging through to the HVAC.
Laughing inside, he set the computer on the coffee table.
“But Chuuya,” he said, wide-eyed, his voice silky, “I don’t think you’re thinking this through clearly.”

Dazai and Chuuya are still working on the hunt for a new place to live. On Wednesday, for Chuuya’s birthday, Dazai gives him a promise rather than a present, and Chuuya couldn't be more excited. ❤️
OH! Turns out he COULD! Yay! ❤️❤️❤️
Excerpt:
Dazai led him to the home office. As they walked through the door, Dazai began, “I didn’t actually get you a present.”
Chuuya raised an eyebrow and gestured to the pile of large, gift-wrapped boxes. “Then what the fuck is all that?” he asked.
Dazai picked one up and handed it to him. “I got you a promise, instead.”
Chuuya studied him for a moment, intrigued by the wording, and then began removing the wrapping paper. He looked at the box and his heart thumped.

Summary
In the previous story, A Fresh Start, an assassination attempt led to Dazai and Chuuya leaving the ADA and Port Mafia and going independent.
This story picks up the night that A Fresh Start ended. They have a moment of vulnerability, processing the assassination attempt, and when they awaken the next day they make plans for their new home, and their new business, and getting together with their friends, and - lo and behold - get their first client.
Excerpt:
Chuuya sat at the flimsy kitchen table in the safe house as Dazai made pancakes. He flipped the Gifted Business Permit over in his hands, inspecting both sides.
“Well, looks like our company name was decided for us,” he said.
Dazai threw him a look over his shoulder. “Be honest,” he said. “Would you have called us anything else?”
“Of course not,” snorted Chuuya.

Summary
For my regular readers: If you are alarmed by the tags, I will provide a summary in the end notes, and I recommend you at least read that summary, as this story heralds a massive (positive) change.
Ace has decided to assassinate Chuuya and frame Mori and Kouyou for it, so that Dazai will kill them, thereby clearing the path to leadership for himself.
Ace is a fool, and has unintentionally given Soukoku a glorious opportunity.
Excerpt:
And then Mori and Kouyou gave Ace the most beautiful gift in the world.
Shifting topics, in a pleasant, businesslike voice, Mori said, “At any rate, Kouyou, I’d like to give Chuuya a little reward for his excellent work on this project. Can you suggest a wine that he might like? Something special.”
“Of course,” Kouyou said. “Let me do a little research and I’ll email you when I identify one.”
Ace threw his head back in the privacy of his office and laughed in delight. Finally, he exulted. Finally my day has come!

The recent widespread spying / heist / crime wave has turned out to be the work of an Ability user. A very creative Ability user, with a concealment ability - one that, interestingly, doesn't work on Ranpo.
Excerpt:
Kunikida placed a finger on one circle and said, “How about I start here? I can research the building records for this area, see if there were any recent changes of ownership, or if there are any buildings with long-term ownership or tenancy by shady characters.”
“That sounds good-” Dazai began, and then was interrupted as Ranpo reentered the bullpen for the first time since the morning.
“What in the world is that?” Ranpo asked loudly. “And why are you letting it listen in on your investigation?”

I Think I'm Ready For Another Whiskey Now, Chuuya by RandomOkapi

Summary
For White Day, Chuuya gets Dazai some high-end whiskey tasting samplers. And obviously, if you're giving your husband whiskey tasting samplers for White Day, you rent a bar theme room in a love hotel for an entire night and dress up as a sexy bartender to give them to him. That's only natural, right? Right?
Excerpt:
The petite bartender wore tight black leggings and Chippendales-style white cuffs and collar - just cuffs and collar, no actual shirt - with cufflinks and a black bow tie. The muscles of his bare chest and arms gleamed as if oiled, and his flaming red hair was pinned up on one side, tumbling down the other shoulder. Several gold cuffs of varying widths and designs graced the cartilage of his exposed ear, and his blue eyes were wide and dark-rimmed and his lips parted and pink.
“Oh, sorry,” Chuuya said. “I was just about to lock up. Didn’t think we were going to get any more customers tonight.”
As Dazai stared at him, mouth watering, Chuuya’s eyes flickered up and down his tall form, and his expression of surprise melted into a smile of interest.

When Atsushi asks Dazai to swing by and wish Akutagawa a happy birthday, the two groups end up witnessing a robbery. Chuuya and Atsushi handle it.
Excerpt:
Chuuya shook his head. “Everything’s so complicated with you,” he said. “You could have just sent him a card, or you could call him today, or you could have asked him out for coffee or something. Why do we have to pretend to casually bump into them, and why do I have to be a part of this?”
He strode next to Dazai along the sidewalk, hands in the pockets of his jeans, the hood of his blue sweatshirt raised to cover his fiery curls.

Summary
Chuuya and Dazai had Yosano and Kunikida over for dinner and drinks again, and oops, this time they all got well and truly plastered. But hey, they had fun eating, and drinking, and chatting, and played Never Have I Ever, and wow, it turns out with enough wine even Kunikida will commit PDA. Aw, they all had such a good time, even if the resulting hangovers were brutal.
Excerpt:
“You got it?” Chuuya called as the doorbell rang.
“Yes,” Dazai called back.
Chuuya closed the refrigerator and carried the vegetables over to the counter, setting them down by the cutting board. He heard muffled voices from the living room.
Smiling to himself as he chopped vegetables, he called out again, “Hey, Kunikida, it’s polite to come say hi to your host before you head off to play games.”
Kunikida’s voice came from the doorway, amused. “I’m well aware of that, Nakahara. Hi.”
Chuuya threw another grin over his shoulder. “Hi, Kunikida. Hi, Trouble.”
“Aw, thanks,” Yosano said, sauntering over to the other side of the counter. She set a bottle of wine down. “Anything I can do to help?”
