A series of poems exploring the themes of suicide, change, and hope.
I wrote them with my sister in mind, as she attempted suicide in 2023. Fortunately, she is alive today. Challenges remain—and I think they always will—but the important thing is that they can be faced.

Neither of us spoke. Nikki’s gaze flickered to my face, and my pulse jumped.
Then, very gently; she leaned in. Her lips pressed a soft kiss against my cheek. The contact lasted barely a second, but my entire body short-circuited. Heat exploded across my face. I froze and my eyes widened. I went bright red, my heart pounding so hard I was sure she could hear it.
She pulled back just enough to smile, her brown eyes sparkling. “I can’t wait for Friday….”
My heart melted.

When she heard from Ian that Nikki was acting almost psychotic at his party, all the alarms went off in her head. Sarah went to visit her place the next day and, after confirming that she wasn’t there, went to Bear’s.
The door was open, just slightly, and the first thing she heard was wailing.
“Why did you do that?” Nikki cried out, and Sarah had never heard her or anyone sound so broken.
Was it Bear?
She shivered at the thought.
If it was him, Bear wasn’t responding.
