Ilya needs to make it worth it. He needs to remind him what Shane was so captivated by in the early phase of their relationship. Shane fell in love with the flirtatious, bold, confident athlete who could make Shane swoon with a single kiss. Not this burdensome, troubled crybaby who had become, to his great humiliation, emotionally dependent on Shane.

Summary
It begins with a handful of scars hidden beneath the waistband of his underwear after a photoshoot hookup neither of them expected to happen. Then comes the drinking, the endless nights out and the hotel room meetings where Ilya arrives smelling of alcohol and exhaustion. A year later, Shane discovers something far harder to ignore sitting openly on a hotel desk. After that come the fights, the broken teeth, the bruises, the cigarettes, and all the countless little ways Ilya seems determined to hurt himself while pretending none of it matters.
Each year reveals another piece of a puzzle Shane cannot quite solve.
