    Summary

“Uh,” he says, looking up from his screen and feeling his ears go hot, realizing for the first time that this habit of his hasn’t actually come up before until this exact moment.

“What?” Rozanov asks, sounding more amused than anything else. “You are one of the people who does Instagram for food now?”

“No,” Shane says, stalling between answering and finishing his Snap so he can send it to Melissa, “one sec.” He finishes typing out 'Tuna melt. Chips. Pickles. It smells really good. Swiss cheese, I think.' before he looks back to Rozanov, putting his phone facedown on the coffee table. “Just sending it to someone on the staff. She likes knowing what I’m eating.”

He doesn’t know if Melissa likes knowing what he’s eating, per se, but she also seems pleased when he talks about enjoying food for things beyond how many grams of protein it has in it.

“Ah,” Rozanov says, in a tone Shane can’t quite read. “You always send her your food then, this girl?”

(shane has a habit of sending his team's dietician his meals for approval) (the problem with this habit? he forgets to tell ilya exactly what it is that melissa does) (how the tuna meltdown is AVERTED through the power of miscommunication)

    Summary

Hollander stepped closer to the windowsill. Between a pair of empty designer vases sat a cheap ceramic lucky cat, white, with one paw raised. Hollander brushed his thumb over a small chip in the glaze. Somehow, looking was never enough for him. Whenever he liked something – the picture in the living room, the leaf, now this cat – he reached out and touched. Ilya remembered how, the night of their first hook-up, Hollander had touched him first too: fingers curling around Ilya’s arm, as though physical contact were the only way to make sure he was real.

    ***

House fic! Ilya longs for a home house. (Un)fortunately, his hockey nemesis is a hopeless real estate and architecture nerd.

A reimagining of the drought years (2011-13 - less of a drought in this version...) with heaps of yearning, some angst, Ilya driving fast cars, Shane drawing floor plans, the Hollanders, and cats. They take turns rescuing each other until they find their way home.

    Now complete!

    Summary

One summer morning a fan spots half the Ottawa Centaurs in suits at a gas station.
An hour later, another fan sees Cliff Marlow and Hayden Pike transporting suspiciously large cake boxes across Ottawa.
Then someone spots Ilya Rozanov's beloved dog Anya wearing a burgundy bow while being walked by Shane Hollander's mother.
The internet does what it does best: completely loses its mind.

    Summary

Ilya was only a few strides behind Shane on the ice.

He clocked the angle before the hit even landed; Marlow coming in too hot, too fast, shoulder high. Shane turned and slowed at the wrong moment, skates clipping, balance gone.

    Impact.

The sound carried oddly through the arena, duller than boards, sharper than ice. Shane went down hard, helmet skidding, body twisting. And then it all happened at once. Skates tangled. Marlow stumbled over him as he fell, too. A skate’s blade flashed too close, too sharp.

    --------------------------------

Shane's injuries during the Boston/Montreal game are much more life-threatening than in canon. Ilya's quick thinking and bone-deep instincts are the only reason he survives.
