Summary
When Shane is 12, the Hollanders billet 17-year-old Angelique Bouchard as she works toward being drafted by the PWHL. Angi becomes an older sister figure for Shane; when she comes out to him, it changes the trajectory of his own internalized homophobia, and therefore changes the timeline of Shane and Ilya's love story.
This is that AU, but told in snippets through the lyrics of Alanis Morissette's "21 Things I Want in a Lover" from her 2002 album Under Rug Swept. Therefore, the timeline is all over the place. The very end author notes has a rough timeline if you are ever confused by the order of events.

Summary
The first time they’d done this, in Ilya’s bed, Shane had been mystified at Rozanov’s insistence that he not enter the nest without Shane’s permission. Now, Shane feels something akin to smugness flexing its claws in his chest. A primal satisfaction at the rightness that he is the one with the power - at present, if not for much longer - alpha just outside the nest and at his mercy.
Like Shane will only yield for someone who has earned it. He can draw out Ilya’s suffering just a little longer, make him earn it.
Shane rakes his gaze over the delicious chest and bicep muscles bunching above the edge of the nest. “Waiting for something, Rozanov?”
“Are you going to let me into your nest, omega?” His pronunciation of the endearment is more Russian than English, accent thickening around the syllables.
“Depends. You gonna give me your knot?”
“Hm, does not sound like begging yet to me.”
Some months after Shane recovers from rejection sickness in Ilya's bed, they share their heat/rut together at the cottage, both clinging to the delusion it's still casual.

Summary
Shane leans down and bites Ilya’s chest over his heart. Shane has slashed him open, body and soul, head to toe. No noxious steam wafts out from where Shane’s teeth had been. Shane is seeing through to his skin and bones, is physically inside of him, and is not recoiling. Instead, he’s whimpering and shoving his face, sticky with sweat, into Ilya’s neck.

“I need your help.”
Ilya peers up again and raises an eyebrow. He pauses the video he was watching. “With?”
Shane fidgets. “I, uh… I can’t– I mean, I can but I’m not very good– Fuck, listen, just– Ineedyoutohelpmewithsex.”
A pause. A long pause. Ilya blinks a couple of times, mouth twitching at the corners. Then,
“You need me to teach you how to fuck your girl, Hollander?”
Shane needs help satisfying his girlfriend, Jessica. He turns to his roommate, Ilya, for help.
