    Summary

    Arthur Morgan was a monster.

He had known it since he was just a boy, long before Dutch and Hosea swept him off the streets in the wake of his father’s death. He had known it since before Hosea had taught him his letters and Dutch had honed Arthur’s nasty quickdraw into a deadly accurate shot. He had known it before he ran with the gang, his ever-growing family, killing and robbing and tearing their way through the world in the hopes of a better life.

No, Arthur Morgan was a monster because, physically, he was.

    -
Arthur Morgan believes that him being a werewolf and an outlaw makes him unworthy of love and undeserving of a happier life.

Charles Smith is determined to prove him wrong.

    Summary

So when he spots a trail of… something, leading from—or to?—the cave's entrance, along the short stretch of the beach and into the sea, Arthur's on high alert immediately. It looks like… blood. Of some creature, or monster, luminous even in the glaring afternoon sun, and a shimmering blue. Arthur digs around in his head, trying to remember what he knows about non-humans, and comes up empty. Most species have red blood, and a few have gold, but blue?

He squints, pulling out a pair of binoculars. The trail looks… diluted, dissipated. Like the tides have washed over it countless times. Yet still the trail persists, which must mean that whatever is oozing that stuff is still in the cave, bleeding out. Arthur briefly wonders how it ended up in there; perhaps the tide brought it in, and the creature was left stranded here after the tides fell.

Arthur takes a deep heaving sigh. Let he never be known to be a smart, sensible man.

    Summary

Arthur Morgan had been with the Van der Linde gang for just shy of eight years, and his loyalty to those who gave him refuge and purpose was not to be questioned. After sneaking out of Chicago following havoc they may have inadvertently caused, the gang move from bustling Illinois to the prairie fields of northern Kansas and are in need of money. Looking for honest work to keep his hands clean as a newcomer of the state, Arthur gets a job at Old Stone Ranch, owned by one esteemed but covetous and dour entrepreneur and businessman, Henry Gillis. What Arthur soon learns is that the ranch is a family business set to pass down to Gillis’ eldest child, Mary, who Arthur takes a liking to. As the duo from two different worlds get closer and closer, Arthur is forced to reflect on where his loyalties lie: can he fight and change for the woman he loves despite all odds, or continue giving in to the outlaw life he has been moulded to fit into?

Or: An interpreted story on how Arthur and Mary met, fell in love and ultimately fell apart.

    Summary

“Ah, he just ran off somewhere. It'll be fine, son.” Dutch waved a dismissing hand.

“I’ll go find him,” Arthur grumbled, replacing his scarf with a small huff, "I guess."

Dutch laughed, the kind that probably meant something but that Arthur was not going to pretend to understand. Some untold truth, a subtle irony, and for a second Arthur felt he could understand it. Then he pushed the thought aside and marched outside.
