Summary
Shane is made to be worshiped; he's a luxury. He’s perfect. A bona fide godsend. He shouldn’t have to deal with this. He shouldn’t have to lose sleep putting the pieces of him back together in the middle of the night. He deserves better than him; of course, he does. He deserves the world.
Ilya needs to make it worth it. He needs to remind him what Shane was so captivated by in the early phase of their relationship. Shane fell in love with the flirtatious, bold, confident athlete who could make Shane swoon with a single kiss. Not this burdensome, troubled crybaby who had become, to his great humiliation, emotionally dependent on Shane.
Make it worth it, Ilya tells himself.

Summary
Ilya thought playing on the same team as Shane would mean chirping, showing off, and maybe winning a Cup together.
He did not expect it to mean having to tell Shane, as his captain, that the way he talks to their rookies is hurting the team.
Shane takes this extremely literally. Ilya takes it extremely personally.
