Summary
"I know." But his jaw is clenched, his breathing careful. "Just — let me do this right."
And she understands then that he's scared, too. He’s the one who’s seen her through all of it, who knows her better than she knows herself sometimes. Jack loves her, and she knows he’s terrified of hurting her, of pushing too hard, of undoing the careful healing of the past three months.
His caution is love made physical.

Summary
“I uh-thank you, Mateo, sorry.” Jack quirks an eyebrow at Victoria’s sudden fumbling. “Dr. Abbot, I wanted to inform you that Dr. Mohan left.”
Emery raises her eyebrows high behind the mask, and the nurses try and fail to subtly glance at Jack’s reaction.
He remains unmoving, his eyes watching the patient’s stats. “And? Her double ended at 7 AM.” He feels the sweat trailing faster now, and his hands are clammy behind his gloves. “We can’t keep our newest attendings here for 24 hours regardless of the patients asking for them, Victoria.”
She groans at his purposeful obliviousness, and with a sharp tone, she announces very loudly to the operating room. “She’s leaving for her flight to Boston and it boards at 9:30, do what you think is best with that information.”
The phone goes off with a click from the nearby nurse.

Summary
Samira had come across an abstract in medical school of a researcher studying the weight of a gaze. Is it possible to feel a tiny, fractional shift in gravity when someone’s eyes are on you? What about a dozen? A hundred? A thousand?
She couldn’t remember the paper’s conclusion, only that the premise was interesting but the methodology was flawed.
She could confirm now, walking into Robby’s New Year’s Eve party with her hand in Jack’s, that gazes held weight.
