    While in prison on Asgard, Frigga devises her own punishment for her wayward son – she bestows upon Loki the curse of watching the different pathways of what might have been during the attack on Midgard. In one thread, he accepted the drink from Stark. In another, Stark saved him from death. In every thread, the infuriating mortal captures Loki's attention. Now, every time he closes his eyes, Loki walks the threads of fate that never were and that never will be, and in doing so, he must learn from the past to find the future that Frigga has already foretold from the tapestry of fate.

    Before his first battle, Loki cast a spell to ensure that, if he died, he would be brought back to life in a safe place in the body he had at the time of casting. He didn’t find a way to keep his memories intact, so after he survived the battle he discarded the plan as a childish impulse. If he thought about the spell at all over the next several centuries, he assumed that it had never worked, or had lost its power.

    Then a young Loki woke up on—was this really Midgard?

    Stephen had a very good reason for being up in his tower, and he'd appreciate it if idiot knights stopped trying to 'save' him. Tony's not here to save anyone, he's just got an interminable case of curiosity that would probably get him killed one day if it weren't for the curse that'll actually do the killing.

    Stephen doesn't need saving, but if he did he could save himself. Tony finds a way to save him regardless. Tony does need saving, but there's nothing he or anyone can do to save him. Stephen's not prepared to accept that.
