It’d been three months since Sophie had found the house. She’d finished it and moved in. Sophie had decorated. She’d brought Iggy, started back up on her Regent duties, and started gardening. It wasn’t life with Keefe, it wasn't what she’d dreamed of with him on long walks. But it was steady. She’d visit his grave once a month.
But Sophie was happy. As happy as she could be. Shed started wearing her ring on a chain; the weight off her finger now resting against her heart. And that felt right.
She’d always keep him close.

Sophie sat there, watching Grady walk away, thinking. How long? How long had Keefe been the one for her? How long had he known her better than she did? Why? She could picture him. Lying under the panakes tree with her. Rolling over and rubbing the crease between her brow. He would smirk and ask her why her mood was so intense.
Sophie would laugh, whispering that she was just wondering. She'd trail off, and Keefe would make some joke and insist she keep talking. Shed blush as say she was wondering when they'd reached the point of no return. When they'd gotten to the place where they were the only ones for each other.
Keefe would smile. He’d tell her maybe it was before they met. Maybe they really were made for eachother. He'd tell her he didn't believe in coincidences.
Sophie would ask if he believed in fate, but she didn't know what he'd say. She wished he were here to say it. Lean in and tell her…
