Summary
On the way to Erid, Ryland eventually runs out of rations and has to switch to a full diet of practically flavorless and nutritionless taumoeba.
The human body, when faced with starvation, will typically grow more tired and uncoordinated, requiring wayyy more sleep than before to make up for the lost energy source.Rocky is not a fan of that.

Ryland Grace has been through way more then he ever wanted to be, but hey! He made it through some how and is now happily living on an alien planet 13 lightyears away from Earth surrounded by alien rocks. Hooray... He has finally come to terms with the fact that he will be the only human being he'll see for the rest of his life, when a panicking Rocky appears at his door in the middle of the night yelling about a bloody submarine he and Adrian found floating in space...and theres something living inside.
