Andrew lunged instinctively toward Neil, his arm snapping out to shield him, but he had no way of knowing if he had been fast enough. Neil gets a head injury that changes his mental stability. He is put on antipsychotic that causes him to become numb. After the Foxes recruit Neil's teammate in Milport and he's at the right place at the right time, he signs as well.

It's been seven years since the Moriyamas killed Andrew and Neil slipped their leash for Japan. He's spent the time since dismantling their empire as retribution for Andrew's death. Now, more Nathaniel than Neil, he returns to South Carolina looking for something to live for.
After Neil died in Baltimore, Andrew let his apathy take over - if feeling meant an endless pit of grief, he didn't want it. After Ichirou dies and the Moriyamas fall, he wonders if anyone would notice if he dissapeared.
