    Their few interactions remind Todoroki of the slide puzzles that he would do when he was younger.
    He remembers sitting with Fuyumi in front of the red glow of the fireplace, a grid of square tiles on the ground between them. In theory, a well placed slide or ten would be able to coax an image out of those tiles. In practice, Todoroki had always gotten frustrated, had always needed Fuyumi to push and prod him towards the solution.

    That’s what it feels like with Midoriya. It’s like they’re sliding longside against reality, like they’re barely brushing fingers, like they need to shuffle a bit more before the big picture can be revealed.

    Midoriya’s smiles are hollow. Todoroki’s pleasantries are overwrought.
    Midoriya’s hands are scarred. As is his back, as are his arms. Todoroki’s face is scarred. His mind, his motivations, are mangled.

    They fit. Their picture will not be pretty, but they fit.

    “It’s like something straight out of a shoujo manga,” Ashido whispers to Hagakure and the two of them dissolve into giggles before Iida hushes them.

    Sometimes little mistakes happen, like accidentally sending a text message to the wrong people, and though it can be scary and feel like the world is crashing down around you, you must remember that it is okay.... It's fine, isn't it?

    Midoriya and Uraraka are forced to deal with the consequences of a tiny mistake that feels like it holds so much more weight.
