Who else does Mario care about, if not his dear old brother?Luigi isn’t known to be as capable as his brother, which makes him a perfect candidate for kidnapping.
But as Bowser witnesses first hand what he’s actually capable of, without being overshadowed by his brother, something… changes.

Summary
Mario and Luigi somehow both got 2 marks on their hands, one from birth and one on their 14th birthday, which is odd since others only get their one and only passion mark from birth.
Even though they tried to follow their mark, as best as they could, and became plumbers, things just don't seem to go their way.
It wasn't until they dropped into another world entirely that their confusion got some answers.
