Astarion had been on edge ever since they arrived in the city. So, naturally, sending Cazador on an impromptu trip to the Hells was priority number one.
Right up until Willow took one look at Szarr Palace and the universe suddenly decided to remind her why her parents had shipped her off to Waterdeep all those years ago.

Summary
Twenty two years ago, the infamous 'Yellow Eyes' killings swept across the United States; dozens of women murdered and their homes set alight in the nurseries of their newborn children by an unseen, unstoppable force. The only victims who survived long enough to give evidence claimed to have seen a shadowed, yellow-eyed man hovering above their baby, but no such man has ever been found.
Now, those children are going missing, and the BAU have taken the case.
That would be all well and good, of course, if SSA Dean Winchester didn't happen to be the older brother of one. Returning home, even for a case, is something he never wanted, but being back in Kansas lands him headfirst into a meet-cute with a man who feels almost too good to be true. He's perfect in almost every conceivable way, apart from the fact that he's so very, very cagey about what he does for a living.
But Castiel can't be hiding anything that bad. Dean is sure of it.
He'd bet his badge on it. Hell, he'd bet his life.
It just may be that his little brother is the one who has to pay that price.

AHHHHH I love this fic series so much. The intelligent cordyceps is such a unique idea and the author does it perfectly. I love how Joel and Ellie telepathically interact and the ending is just 🥰🥰 Very much recommend.
