Nora bristled. “You’re one to talk,” she snapped, “In case you hadn’t noticed, the world ended. You were murdered, our son was kidnapped, I’ve been shot at by psychopaths and mauled by a monster. The big bad has been struck down. The day has been saved. Now, clearly, it's time for rest, recovery, and celebration of a job well done!

The Enclave is still out there, Cooper's family is, too, and Norman is still a subject in one of Vault-Tec's many experiments. Cooper has no way to see how he really looks right now, and would rather put a bullet in his own head than find out but the word sad couldn’t possibly cover it, this icy fire stealing over him, this monster in front of him, the uranium thrumming through his blood. The post is through his gut again, he’s impaled and it’s hot, it hurts, it’s all his fault.

Cooper often feels like he’s in two places at once. Like the past is present and the present is past and he can’t do a damn thing to change either of them. No matter what he does it’s like his world is always ending.
But this is still Vegas and the games are all still rigged. And if that's the way it is, he finally decides he doesn't want to play at all.
