Summary
They solve two more cases when Charles annoyingly brings up the subject again. The first time he tried, Edwin ran away, under the guise he saw something strange in the distance. This time, Charles is prepared for it; he has Edwin cornered with nowhere to go. Edwin stares, miffed that Charles has got him beat.
“You’re in love with me,” Charles says slowly, cutting straight to the point.
Internally, Edwin panics. Outwardly, he maintains a calm, collected demeanour.
Five times Edwin vehemently denies being in love with his best friend and one time he doesn't. Alternatively, the fic in which Edwin is significantly more repressed about his feelings than in canon.

“Maybe I just wanted to see the Trafalgar Square lions,” the Cat King shrugs. “Although, now that I’ve seen them, are they really that much more impressive than the New York Library lions?” He weighs his head so-so. “Debatable.”
Charles growls, giving his best lion impression himself. “Why. Are. You. Here.”
“Alright, alright,” the Cat King relents. “So impatient. I thought the British enjoyed making small talk. Or is that just when it’s about the weather?” He makes his way back to the desk. “I have a case for you.”

“You know, you can’t just bring me here whenever you want.” Said Edwin indignantly. “I was in the middle of something. Some of us have work to do.”
“Work you say?” said the Cat King, stepping even closer. Edwin thought he reached for his hand, but he actually reached for what Edwin was still holding in it. A small book. Oh no.
Edwin tried to snatch the book out of his hand, but cat reflexes were no joke. The Cat King quickly stepped back, the manga in his hand. “What do we have here?” he asked examining the cover. To Edwin’s absolute horror, he saw the book had a half-naked man with a collar and cat ears on the front cover.or. Edwin wants to learn about sex between two men, so Niko lends him some of her manga. The Cat King finds out and offers a more practical lesson.

"You saved my life." Jim said, and for a second Leonard had been stupid enough to think he'd been talking to him. Yet when he looked up and saw the adoration with which Jim was staring at Spock he felt his hackles rising. Neither of them noticed, but how were they expected to now that he was an outsider?
"Uhura and I had something to do with it too, you know?" Jim brushed it off for the usual grumpy comment it was and continued talking to Spock as if there had been no interruption. Like Leonard was background noise.
"Thank you."
"You are welcome, Jim."
They didn't even have the decency to spare him a glance.
