The younger of the two had found the perfect spot to float in, his elbows hooked over the edge of the pool with the water just deep enough to cover up to his shoulders while his feet still brushed the bottom tiles. His chin was resting on the fold of his arms, and he seemed a little lost in thought as Zee closed the last bit of distance between them, peering up at the sky, seemingly in awe of the view laid out before him.
Zee understood the feeling well.

Summary
Pretty wasn't a word NuNew associated with himself very often. He knew he had pleasant features and had never considered himself ugly, but he sometimes didn't understand how people could throw so many compliments in his direction. He was good looking but not worship worthy. Zee had been one of the first to call him pretty, gorgeous, and beautiful—and NuNew could vividly remember how each compliment had made his cheeks light on fire and his insides melt. He got used to it eventually (not really, but whatever) but still occasionally questioned whether it was true.
This, however, made NuNew feel…powerful.

“Does Nhu know what today is?” Zee asked, whispering the words.
NuNew nodded, biting his bottom lip as he hummed an affirmative. Of course, he knew—he'd woken long before the crack of dawn because of it, after all.
“Nhu has loved Hia for four years now.” He admitted, shy in how true the words were.
Many would have probably called him naive if he'd said the words to anyone else, rolling their eyes at the remark—because how could NuNew, so young at the time, know from the very first moment he'd set his gaze on Zee that he loved him? But NuNew had never doubted that feeling, even for a moment. Maybe he hadn't been in love with Zee from the beginning, but he'd always loved him, even before he knew what the feeling really was.
