Six months after he drowned, Jake is back at work. He's adjusted well to working full time and everything feels like it's back to normal.
But Jake doesn't feel normal. He doesn't feel anything at all, not even fear. Not when the jet ski flips, not when Harrison goes under, not when he's being tossed around like a ragdoll by ten foot surf. No, it's not until he's floating in the middle of the ocean, no way to call for help and a child clinging to his chest that he thinks- maybe there's something wrong with that.
Jake figures it's a bad time to remember how to live, when he's about to die.

Phil lifts his hand, scratching the back of his neck lightly. Below him, the kid is silent and staring at some point on the table. “No. He doesn’t know Common. So we’ll be homeschooling him for a little while, until he knows enough to get by in school.”
Techno’s seventeen. He finished his last year of public school the summer before.
“I can teach him,” he says, not tearing his eyes off of the small frame sitting at the table, dwarfed by Phil’s size and his wings. He’s pitiful.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, yea?” Tommy waved as he walked away.
“Yeah, alright.” Tubbo smiled as he started to walk.
But Tubbo didn’t see Tommy the next day.
Because in 5 minutes of walking, he felt a familiar sickness rising up in his throat.
Because in 10 minutes of walking, he had to stop and stand.
Because in 10 minutes and 15 seconds, Tubbo stumbled, dizzy, and fell.
Because in 20 minutes, Technoblade found Tubbo and called 911.
Because in 9 hours, Tubbo was dead.
In short, Tubbo dies and sbi +Ranboo write him letters. They grieve, life goes on, and suddenly it's 10 years later and everything is the same yet very different.
