The purposefully boring reaction died on his tongue the second he saw the picture on the screen. He hadn’t even read the headline yet, too nervous to find out what it could be saying. Because on the screen in front of him was the cocky face of Ilya Rozanov and, if Shane was not completely mistaken, it appeared he was sat in an Ottawa Centaurs jersey.
“What the fuck is going on?” Shane hissed, eyes bulging in a way that he was sure would have been comical if his whole world wasn’t caving in on him again. Ilya Rozanov was meant to be gone forever. That was the agreement he had assumed they had come to when he had run off to Russia without a single text and had never been in contact again.

But if he had been asked, Ilya would have approved of this prank. He would have authorized it, given Cliff and Vicky his seal of approval, perhaps even helped orchestrate it.
Any other day, Ilya might have been happy to play along.
But, in perfect dramatic irony, it had not happened any other day. It had happened today. And, cherry on top, of course the rookie had to walk in when Shane was already freaking out about Ilya saying his name.

Getting information about Tevinter directly from an altus Vint would be great for his reports, after all. As the weeks pass, however, it stops being about the reports. There’s just something off about Dorian. For as gregarious and charming as he acts, he’s oddly distant with others, to the point where he seems almost afraid to let anyone get close. There’s also his nighttime habit of wandering into the woods around Haven, or away from camp while he’s supposed to be on watch. Dorian claims it’s just for some alone time, but Bull’s not so sure.
Bull has always loved puzzles, and Dorian’s turning out to be a pretty complex one.

He clocked the angle before the hit even landed; Marlow coming in too hot, too fast, shoulder high. Shane turned and slowed at the wrong moment, skates clipping, balance gone.
Impact.
The sound carried oddly through the arena, duller than boards, sharper than ice. Shane went down hard, helmet skidding, body twisting. And then it all happened at once. Skates tangled. Marlow stumbled over him as he fell, too. A skate’s blade flashed too close, too sharp.

Shane's injuries during the Boston/Montreal game are much more life-threatening than in canon. Ilya's quick thinking and bone-deep instincts are the only reason he survives.
