Maybe she reads the old dread off his face. Her eyes are steady pools as she stares at him with a knowingness you could drown in, her voice low. “That's what it takes to fuel the Dreamscape, isn't it? Some people have to sacrifice themselves to keep the fantasy going.” There’s a pointedness to it that traps his heart somewhere in his throat.

A scoff sounds from behind him. Getting closer. “Haven't you heard of a— actually, no. Nevermind. Why are there two of you?”Sunday finds himself imprisoned. Wonweek enjoys playing warden. Aventurine delays breaking him out.

Sunday didn't bother to give that a response, hiding his face in a pillow instead. He couldn't be disowned anymore, but it still felt like an appropriate reaction if he didn’t keep his answer to himself.
Dan Heng sighed. “...Remember the project of rebuilding your reputation? Please try not to throw it away again over a boy that already belongs to someone else.”
“I am not doing that,” Sunday steadfastly denied, blushing all the while.If Sunday can't have Aventurine, then he'll just have his boyfriend instead.

He gets no response, so he tries a different language, learns the phrase in every galactic common language he can get his hands on.
