The man's eyebrows shot up in surprise. Zanka was half-panicking as he added hastily, "Not like that! It's just—I want to repay you for taking me here. And you're drenched, so I thought getting a hot drink might help. The coffee in the cafeteria here is pretty decent."
"Oh yeah, I know. I've been here before, you know? You chewed me out like I'd murdered someone."
It was supposed to be a totally unmeet-cute moment between the wrongly-accused-of-being-irresponsible-biker with the-presumptuous-but-trying-to-make-an-amend-doctor, but fate sometimes had her own way of making things interesting.

A story about two lonely men finding each other.

Soot falls from the sky like black snowflakes. The air reeks of the pungent smell of alcohol tickling the hairs of his nose, the stink of tar lying in wait already. Three assertive knocks sound on his front door, and he rakes his eyes away from the window to look at it. “Open the door!” a man bellows from outside. “I know you’re home!”
If he hadn’t seen the torches, he would have tried a quiet getaway. Fleeing under the cover of darkness to goddess knows where (like as not to hell). He could still try; he’s fast. Yet he’s compelled to stop the noise—more insistent knocks, more angry shouts for his person—so he heaves himself out of his chair and slides back the door’s bolt.
It immediately swings open to the inside, hitting him in the face. He covers it with a hand as the man standing next to the village mayor says, “Felix Hugo, you are hereby arrested for the crime of lycanthropy. Follow us, and don’t try anything stupid.” -

"Hey, Zanzan," the moment Enjin used the nickname, that's when Zanka knows his husband is up to crazy idea. "What if I just let my stubble grow?"
The question is so out of the world that it prompts Zanka to turn in his chair. "What do you mean?"
"Kids these days don't respect the elders anymore," Enjin drags his hands over his face, his voice comes out slightly muffled. "Maybe the beard will make me look scarier and they will start respecting me more."
Zanka should have known better.
Years and decades, he should have learned his lesson.
But this is Enjin, THE Enjin.
And Zanka, unfortunately will always have his own perception of him a bit skewed, slightly disturbed by the bias.
