Lucanis was deeply focused on chopping garlic, the knife in his hand moving almost automatically, when he heard the back door opening. At first he barely registered it, but the familiar sound of heels rhythmically hitting the tiled floor brought the shadow of a smile to his lips.
The hour was past 1am, and he knew there was no one else who'd appear in Ombra's kitchen this late. He didn't look up, despite registering the flash of deep red silk through the corner of his eye.
Instead he put the knife down, walked out to the bar and picked up a bottle of Antivan House Wine and a glass. Back in the kitchen, he uncorked the bottle with practiced precision before pouring her favorite wine into the waiting glass and passed it to the woman now graciously sitting on the counter next to where he had been working.

Summary
Divergent Paths is a Dragon Age Inquisition expanded retelling with a focus on the relationships Lavellan and Solas builds throughout the events of the games. The primarily featured relationship is between Solas and Lavellan, but there is a deep exploration of friendships, romantic attachments and rivalries among the companions as well as some original characters.
My aim is to explore the in-between moments, the ones that happened off-screen mostly, while keeping the integrity of the story intact. There will be canon divergence in this story, first in small ways that allow for my Lavellan and Solas to react to situations in a way better fitting to their characters, in my opinion. Later in the story, there will be points of significant divergence that will affect everything. Overall, however, I am to keep as canon compliant as possible for the sake of the established characters, history and lore.
The scope of this work is rather ambitious, and it may take me a long time to finish publishing the story, but I can promise that I have an ending planned and I don’t intend to abandon it. So please, jump on board and enjoy the ride! I am delighted to have you here.

“A mage should be unnerved by a mage killer.” Lucanis’ response was equally soft, lacking the usual bristle of hostility that protected him. Whilst there was no traditional way of tracking time in the Lighthouse, it was definitely long after midnight and both men were simply tired.
“Not this mage, I hope.” Shifting in his seat, Emmrich stretched his arms out, bangles and rings glimmering in the flickering light from the fireplace. “Not after… Everything.” When he raised his eyes to look at Lucanis they were ringed with dark circles - almost bruises on his pale skin. They look hollow. Haunted. Lucanis knew he didn’t look any better.
“No, Emmrich. Not this mage. Coffee?” Habit. Safety. Security. Make coffee, take each step one at a time and perform the ritual to push back the thoughts crowding inside his skull. His hands were perfectly steady as he pulled the beans down from the shelf, each step a familiar routine as he ground them, releasing their heady scent.Bookmarked by Sca3a

Summary
This is going to be one hell of a dumpster fire of a text. This story will be a full on comic one day when I get my act together but for now, let’s write.
The story follows a pirate ship named Marigold and its crew.
Marigold’s captain is Hayden, first mate/quartermaster is Justin, the cook/boatswain is Sam, doctor/healer is Ayame, cooper is Herbert and the newest member Iisak is the navigator.
The world this story is in is fictional, but it is based on 1720s Europe.
