Summary
Ren clings to the consciousness that is quickly slipping through his fingers. Martyn is looking at him, his face unreadable.
No longer are they hand and king. He is a Knight of the fairy lands and the man in front of him is a councillor of the Southlands. Years ago before the divide, he might have called him Martyn, called him his. They may have sat within castle walls and patched each other's wounds knowing every part of each other, every scar, mole, and freckle but that was a different time, another life.
Ren can sense Martyn's confusion, he doesn't know how Ren got there and he doesn't get the chance to ask why before Ren goes fully slack in his arms and they both sink onto the floor.

Infact he was waking up and realisng this was definitely not where he fell asleep. he opened his eyes to a head of white hair and two wide unblinking eyes mere inches from his face.
The more Sigma thought about it the more the pieces started falling into place, he fell asleep a bit too quickly to be completely natural, this was furthered by the extreme grogginess he felt upon sitting up and taking in his surroundings:
