“It's really none of your business,” Caitlyn says, with no heat. She doesn't mind Vi knowing her name. Rather, she’s maybe possibly potentially enjoying Vi's relentless curiosity. She generally hates any sort of probing - years of being watched as a councillor’s daughter has sharpened her against scrutiny - but Vi’s eyes are warm, and she hasn’t seemed to have recognised Caitlyn for the Kiramman she is.
“Priscilla.” Vi bumps a muscled shoulder against Caitlyn. They’re slowly nearing the PZB. “Phil?”
Caitlyn bites a laugh, but it’s too late.
“So it’s Phil?”
“You really think my name is Phil?”’
“Yeah, short for Syphillis.”
Caitlyn does laugh, now, and shoves Vi. “You’re insufferable.”
“What, a pretty girl chases me, gives me a bunch of money, and you think I’m not even going to try to know her a little bit?” Vi shoves her wrapped fists into her pocket.

The building had been unused for several years following another fire that took the life of its previous owner and his family. […] the cumulative damage might prompt the municipality to take action to preserve the surrounding street, houses and businesses […] ensuring the safety of the citizens.»
When Violet's sentence expires, she's thrown back into the unfeeling arms of the Twin Cities, left to dig bare-handed in Zaun's earth to find her sister amidst the rubble.

Summary
Violet Jones has just been released from prison on parole after serving seven years of a ten-year sentence. Sent to prison at the tender age of sixteen, Vi is now out in the real world again, armed with two goals: find her younger sister Powder and prove her innocence. Her pleas of innocence have fallen on deaf ears for years...until she meets her new parole officer.
Caitlyn Kiramman is a newly minted parole officer, eager to start helping her parolees get back on their feet. As the daughter of the District Attorney and a federal judge, she's ready to step out of her parent's shadows and forge her own path.
What she hadn't anticipated, however, was who her very first client would be. Her relationship with Vi starts off on the wrong foot from the beginning, since Caitlyn's mother was the one who put Vi in prison in the first place. But Caitlyn is not her mother, and more than that, she believes Vi's claim of innocence.
Something about Vi's case has never sat right with her, so Caitlyn decides to do some digging. What starts out as a casual inquiry into Vi's case, very quickly snowballs into something neither Vi nor Cait could've predicted, endangering them both.

Summary
Mel Medarda to this day still was unsure what possessed her to go wandering down towards the Undercity late at night. Yet, she couldn't be unhappy with what happened from there: finding a young, crying girl who needed a second chance in life, and choosing to take her in. Raising her, taking her to therapy, trying to do better for the Undercity which her adoptive daughter came from. Everything seemed to be looking up, but life had to throw one more curveball her way, with the knowledge that Jinx's 'dead' sister was very much not dead, and instead was trapped in a prison that should have been shut down long ago. At least Jinx can have her sister back, right?
If only it were that simple. Vi spent her formative years locked up in a prison where she had to fight to survive every day. She never got a chance to learn how to live. So now, it was up to those who had come together to care for Jinx to try and help Vi learn how to live once more.

And even as Caitlyn tried her best to distract her - getting Sevika to spar with her, taking her down to Jericho’s for mid-week impromptu dates, praising the work she was getting done with the Firelights until she blushed and couldn’t hide a smile - there was always something dark hovering, shadowing the corners of Vi’s smiles; sometimes further away, sometimes breathing down her nape. The weight of it loomed. Vi seemed used to its presence, but Caitlyn swore it only grew bolder - like it was merely sharpening its teeth while biding its time.
No one else could see it, but Caitlyn could. Vi’s left eye kept twitching whenever it was close by.
(Or: Caitlyn and Vi are working hard to rebuild Piltover and Zaun after the war. But when Caitlyn finds out the truth about Vi's time in Stillwater, the two cities are forced to reckon with the past if they want to carve out a future.)

Dr. Kiramman steers her through the chaos and plants her in a chair. Does something to her arm that hurts like fuck, then drapes her in bags of ice and wraps her in a sling. Blinds her with a pen light—“Called it,” she mumbles when he confirms she’s concussed—and presses two pills and a warm mug into her hand. It smells herbaceous. Familiar.
“I brought the good stuff from home,” Dr. Kiramman confesses, and it takes her a moment to understand he means tea. “Extra honey for you. I know you haven’t acquired the taste.”
He’s right in that she only actually drank it once, the first time it was offered—the afternoon they spoke to the Council, several lifetimes ago. But she tasted it just this morning in Caitlyn’s mouth, grassy and sweet. So she pops the pills and takes a sip. Tries not to think about whether that terrified kiss over breakfast was their last. “I want to see her.”
After the war, Vi and Cait recover, and rebuild.

Vi heard the remaining muttering die down, and she knew Sheriff Kiramman had succeeded in putting them at ease.
Despite herself, Vi scowled. Fires were their domain, and their previous experiences with the police didn’t exactly make her optimistic about this round.
Still, there was something about the sheriff that made it hard to look away. Whatever it was, Vi hated that it made her want to listen.

Caitlyn's a detective; Vi a firefighter. Amidst a spate of serial arson cases exploding across the city, the two are thrown together to investigate and collaborate, unearthing decades-old cold cases and a love neither of them knew existed.
This is what happens when conspiracy, corruption and crime is woven into a blossoming, slow-burning love…
